2. 9. 1993 at the Meeting of the General Assembly of the Physical Scientific Section of Union of Slovak Mathematicians and Physicists (PSS USMP) in Žilina. SPS is the successor of the PSS USMP.

The SPS is a collective member of the EPS.

The SPS has mutual cooperation agreements with:

the American Physical Society,

the Austrian Physical Society,

the German Physical Society,

the Physical Scientific Section Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists,

the Polish Physical Society,

the Roland Eötvös Physical Society, Hungary.

The agreement with the Lithuania Physical Society is in the preparation.
